The Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan has provided group benefit plans to small businesses for 30 years. Today, 20,000 companies participate in the program, making it the largest of its kind in Canada. The plan runs under the direction of the Chamber Insurance Corporation of Canada. The CICC consists of a board of directors who are either Chamber managers or volunteers. This board meets regularly to review plan direction and to ensure that a 'by Chamber people for Chamber members' spirit continues. When the plan first took shape 30 years ago, small businesses had a tough time getting group benefits. The Chambers Plan filled that gap. Today, there are still few alternatives in the marketplace for smaller firms.
